What a pitching performance!

TJ pitched the first 3 innings of his AAA tournament game. It was win or go home for his team and he came up huge. In 3 innings of pitching he gave up only 1 earned run and 2 unearned runs, while striking out 1 with no walks. He gave up only 2 hits as well. The most amazing part is he only needed 36 pitches, but this is the amazing part 30 of them were for strikes and he threw only 6 balls. 3 of them were in the 1st inning alone. What an amazing display of accuracy for a 10 yr old. WOW!

Thankfully his teammates played great defense and got him an early 8 - 0 lead. They went on to win 11-5. Next game Tues. If they win they play Wed, and if they win Wed, they have to play Thurs. Hopefully we'll win Tues because than were guaranteed no worse than 3rd.

Different night same result for little league

Well wouldn't you know it. Little league decided to throw another ad hoc rule into a close game. For those of you deciding to let your kids play little league baseball please get a copy of the rules in which your kids will be playing by before signing them up.

Last night after being at the ball fields for over 3 hours in weather that was chilly by Florida standards, we come to find out that the league calls games after 2 hours and 15 minutes no matter the circumstances.

Wouldn't you know it TJ's team who was losing 14-6 came back and scored 7 runs had base runners at 2nd and third with only one out. When the umpire stops the game and says the game has gone 15 minutes over the alloted time of 2 hours. Doesn't matter if you finish the half inning or anything. So now we have little league playing baseball as if it's soccer or basketball. How on earth are you supposed to teach the kids the game of baseball when Little league thinks the game is soccer in disguise.

What really appalls me is the league had the audacity to mandate the parents goto a parent meeting to discuss how we as parents should conduct ourselves at games. Why don't you spend the money on a set of rule books next time and spare me the parental education little league.

Just to follow up on the supposed rule on sliding at home that cost us a game last time, it seems that the rule only goes for some of the kids apparently. We witnessed numerous times where kids did not slide at home and were allowed to score.

Boys and baseball

New week new rant about little league. Son played a game last night, he walked stole 2nd and 3rd and on a passed ball to third base raced home. As he came home he realized that the catcher was not in position to tag him or was even close to the plate so he ran across the plate and scored what at the time tuned out to be the run we lost by. You heard me right they lost by a run. The umpire stated that he needed to slide for the run to score so called him out. Can you believe that?
It seems like every game a new rule is invented in little league baseball. So not only do we have to worry about the rules that the government places on businesses currently. We have to concern ourselves with the ever changing world of rules governing little league baseball. What happened to the good olde days when you let the kids determine the outcome on the field by pitching hitting and fielding. Oh well they still lost 10 - 9.

Terror take 2 from Poison. Start season 4-0.

What a difference a year makes. At this time last year TJ was playing AAU baseball and was 0 - 6 and on his way to a 3 - 22 record. This year the Tampa Terror are off to a 4 - 0 start.

The first 2 games of the year were against the Madeira Beach Outlaws. In that double header the team managed to win a slugfest 20-11 and win the second one 10 - 0.In the first double header TJ didn't hit particularly well getting 3 walks, 1 ground out, and 1 strikeout. He did manage to score 2 runs. His pitching considering it was the first game of the year was pretty good. He pitched 2 innings, allowing 2 hits striking out 3 and walking 6. He allowed 4 runs.

Against the Poison the Terror was able to win the 1st game 15 - 3 and managed to win a nail biter in the 2nd game 8 - 6. While TJ was not able to pitch he was warming up in the bottom of the 5th inning and was all prepared to pitch if called upon. His hitting continues to improve. He got a hit his 1st at bat and managed to walk once. He managed to hit the ball 3 other times and is showing signs that he may be coming out of his hitting slump. Let's hope so.

Next week will be another exciting weekend as the Terror prepare to play their first doubleheader at home against the Nature coast Knights.
